5 Tips for Surviving the Holiday Season

5 Tips for Surviving the Holiday Season

I stepped into Trader Joe’s the other day and what to my wandering eyes did appear? Pumpkin spice granola clusters, pumpkin biscotti, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bread, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin butter, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin beer, and ...PUMPKINS! There were pumpkin goodies everywhere!

There is no clearer sign of the quickly approaching holidays than seeing the brightly stocked supermarket shelves and, unfortunately, with that comes the dreaded holiday weight gain.

What’s different between this year and last? For most of you, this year you’re armed with the NutriBullet! You’ve been Blasting, your taste buds have changed and you’re starting the season with a healthier attitude!

Let’s make a plan – a way to enjoy the holidays without guilt and without a New Year’s resolution to get back on track.

1. Detox before you Retox!

The holidays are often filled with overindulgent treats and calorie-laden toddies! Start your body’s new year now with a NutriBlast Cleanse! A cleanse will not only help detoxify your body, it will help set your mind and cravings at ease. Imagine a holiday season where eggnog is passed over for a pumpkin-flavored NutriBlast!

2. Incorporate your favorite Holiday Seasonal foods into a NutriBlast.

For a healthier spin on your favorites, how about making a Blast recipe using holiday staples? Forget about the pecan pie or that digestive-disaster we call eggnog, try one of these healthy treats instead!

3. Establish a plan and stick to it, holiday or not!

As the saying goes, “If you fail to plan, plan to fail.” Have you ever found yourself ravenous on the way home from work, only to end up in the drive-thru instead of going home for a healthy meal? Or maybe your intentions were to go to yoga class on Thursday evening, but you were convinced to join your co-workers for happy hour. Healthy habits start when you fit them into your daily routine. Jotting them down – adding them as an “event” to your planner or on your phone’s calendar – can help you hold yourself accountable so you're more likely to stick with it. Think about your daily routine and carve out time to move your body and times to eat a healthy meal, snack, or Blast. Remember to always have ingredients on hand or a healthy snack choice within arm's reach. Sunday is a good day to focus on the upcoming week. With all that being said, don’t be too rigid or tough on yourself if you sway off path every now and then. The holidays are a time to enjoy yourself, just remember that not every day between Halloween and New Year’s Day is a holiday!

4. Take your NutriBullet with you.

It’s small enough to travel with you wherever the holidays make take you! Don’t stop Blasting just because you’re not at home. To make it easier, get yourself one of these! Please check with the TSA specific to the airports you’ll be flying to/from to see if you can bring it as a carry on or if you’ll need to check your luggage. You can always play it safe and pack your blade in a checked bag.

5. Share the love with your entire family!

Introduce your family to NutriBlasts by setting up a Blast Bar in your kitchen. The NutriBullet makes a great gift, too! Get your family into the habit of moving together - head out to a park to play some flag football or Frisbee, go for a walk or, if you’re trapped inside due to frigid temperatures, turn on some music and teach the kiddos some of your favorite dance moves! An extra bonus – no more twerking!
