Avoid Over-Stuffing During the Holidays

We’ve all been there. On Thanksgiving Day, we starve ourselves with anticipation of that great, big, fantastic meal. Of course an hour after we’ve consumed three times the amount of food that we would normally eat in a meal, we get that unpleasant, overstuffed feeling that sticks with us for the rest of the evening, not to mention the plummeting energy level and desire to take a nap. At that point, it doesn’t matter how many times you walk around the block, the regret of over-eating and that bloated feeling are still there. Every year we feel like we could star in an antacid commercial.

Last year, the spouse and I decided to try something different in order to avoid our yearly tradition of over-eating and guilt. About 2 hours before we were going to sit down to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal with family and friends, we used our NutriBullet and drank a healthy, satisfying smoothie. Our goal was not to “fill up” on the smoothie so that we didn’t eat dinner; we simply wanted to have something healthy in our system to avoid over eating… and it worked!

When we sat down to dinner with our guests, we never felt as though we did not get to enjoy the entire meal. We ate everything put out in front of us; we just didn’t eat mounds of it.

It was later that evening that we noticed we actually felt good and not like stuffed sausages. There was no guilt over what and how much we consumed that day. Everyone else was complaining about how much they ate and coming up with a workout plan for the following day. We were patting ourselves on the back for thinking up such a brilliant idea on how to avoid stuffing ourselves during our favorite holiday. This was quite the accomplishment for my husband, who can literally eat ¼ of a turkey and 2 pounds of mashed potatoes just in his first serving.

It goes without saying that we will be making the NutriBullet part of our Thanksgiving tradition.
