I admit, I’m not exactly what you would call an ‘outdoorsy’ kind of gal. I do prefer the comforts of the indoors and my skills in the kitchen are not impressive. I usually only frequent stores that sell pre-washed, pre-packaged and pre-sliced everything. If it’s not obvious yet, yes, I have lived in the heart of Los Angeles for most of my life. Without sounding stereotypical, people in busy, crowded cities like mine do like things to be quick, easy and convenient. We do not or cannot take the time to make healthy meals, mainly because we spend most of the day on the freeway. It is not common for people in Los Angeles to grow their own fruits or vegetables, but we are generally very health conscious.
Since I began using my NutriBullet, eating fresh, organic fruits and vegetables has become a way of life for me. So, I decided to try my hand at planting my own edible garden. As acreage and rain are not exactly common here, and we have limits on our water use, growing anything other than rocks can be a challenge.
I planted red, green and yellow peppers, squash, strawberries, tomatoes and a peach and pear tree. As we hit the summer months, my garden began to blossom. Since the trees were fairly young, I only got a few precious pieces, but enough to encourage me and to enjoy in my NutriBlasts. While I had to fight the rabbits and squirrels for my organic produce, I was pretty impressed with how much came in and how great everything tasted in my daily drinks.
It still amazes me how much my life has changed for the better since starting the NutriBullet program several months ago. While I’m not exactly ready to join the Farmers Association of America, I have learned so much about what to eat and how to eat it and I feel encouraged to continue my efforts in growing the freshest fruits and vegetables possible. There is something very special about watching things that you planted blossom into a delicious and healthy meal.
I am very grateful to the NutriBullet program, which has put me on the path to better food and a healthier lifestyle.
