As a contributing writer for NutriBullet, I have a deep passion for transferring knowledge about health and wellness to others. But before I start telling you how to lead a better lifestyle, I’d like to share with you my own personal journey to wellness.
In 2005, I weighed 436 pounds. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, severe arthritis and a slightly enlarged heart. I could barely walk 100 yards without needing to sit down.
This drastically unhealthy state seemed to sneak up on me. As a teenager, I was a very fit and healthy athlete. Then life happened!
I got married, got a real job, had children and started neglecting my body. This wasn’t intentional; I simply didn't have time to exercise and had no clue how to eat for health. I gained weight slowly and steadily despite trying every diet, pill or trick to take it off. My attempts to lose weight backfired, and most of the time I would lose some weight only to gain the weight back, plus more. Over time, I yo-yo dieted my way to 436 pounds, and began to lose hope of ever regaining my health.
But 2005, my outlook changed. During this time, my wife Gwen was struggling with severely debilitating fibromyalgia. In my efforts to help Gwen, I learned of the tremendous healing powers of good nutrition. A new passion (and career) was born.
Since that time, I have lost well over 200 pounds, added about 25 pounds of muscle, and left my health issues behind. Gwen has also benefitted greatly; her fibromyalgia has improved drastically and she has gone off her medication.
Today, I own a thriving health and wellness practice and provide nutritional counseling, information and products to people and health professionals all over the world.
I am now enjoying life to the fullest, and enjoy my family, bicycling, hiking, weight lifting, reading, and college football when I’m not talking about nutrition and healthy lifestyles (a rare occurrence!)
My Introduction To NutriBullet
A couple of months ago, I saw my friend David Wolfe on an infomercial for the NutriBullet. A skeptic at heart, I was hesitant, but curious to find out more about this machine that someone I trusted was endorsing so enthusiastically. Instead of calling David, I decided to test the machine out on my own, something I do on occasion to inform my clients about what works and what doesn't. I ordered my machine not knowing what to expect.
When the NutriBullet arrived, my staff and I hovered around it like it was something from outer space!
Our product test was so impressive I literally couldn't believe it. I think I NutriBlasted every veggie and fruit I had in the office kitchen, and the results were always the same—each spin in the machine churned out an incredibly smooth, seemingly fiber-free beverage. I was hooked.
This solved a problem for me. I endorse blending foods over juicing or eating whole, because it provides all the nutrition from the food without adding digestive strain. The NutriBullet gives you the benefits of a blender and a juicer combined. It’s like magic!
I highly recommend everyone use a NutriBullet to maximize his or her health.
