Famous surgeon Denis Burkett long ago noticed that some of our most common and deadliest diseases were rare or nonexistent in populations eating mostly plant-based diets, diseases like cancer, ischemic heart disease and diverticulitis.
He concluded that the difference was in our lifestyle habits, our eating predominantly, that could lead to a positive, healthful change. His suggestion? Follow the F-word diet: Fiber. Include more natural, green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet to up your fiber and lessen the chance of developing life-threatening diseases.
