I’m lucky in the tastebud department. In fact, I can’t think of a single fruit or vegetable that I don’t like. Maybe papayas, although I like them blended up with other tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. For years, I didn’t like beets, but just recently became enamored with them. So, like I said, I’m a produce lover! And I’m always looking for new goodies to try. Which is how a package of Persian cucumbers ended up in my shopping cart a few weeks back.
At first, I thought I’d just put them in my salad — they are insanely refreshing and crisp — but then a light bulb went off. Let’s throw them in the NutriBullet, I thought, yes! Brilliant!
The cucumbers were so cooling in my smoothies that I started playing around with ginger to heat things up. The below concoction is the fruit of my creativity in the kitchen. A mix of cool and hot, this is the perfect summer smoothie to wake you up and cool you down. Perfect post-workout, too. Enjoy!
Hot and Cold Blast Recipe
- 50% kale
- 1/2 cup blueberries and/or strawberries
- 1 Persian cucumber
- 1-inch piece of ginger
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
Top with water to MAX line, extract and drink!
