How Losing Weight Changed My Life

How Losing Weight Changed My Life

My name is Roger Lee and I am a 31-year-old proud husband and father of two precious babies. I say babies because my Daddy's Girl is about to be 2 in November and my Handsome Boy will be 1 in late October. I want to mention them because they are the total motivation for changing my life!

Before my NutriBullet came, I weighed in at 305 pounds. I was always sick with high blood pressure, sleep apnea and a family history of heart disease and diabetes. It was clear I was headed down a difficult path for me and my family. When my daughter was born, I decided to get life insurance and was upset that my premium was so high because of my weight problem. Then, 2 months later, we found out we had another on the way and that was the start of my journey. I knew I had to be in their lives as much as possible and I did not want them to see me the way I saw myself.

I tried juicing, but was always starving. I joined a gym, but was always too tired and self-conscious to go. I couldn't afford those expensive meal plans and was really feeling like I had no more options.

I stayed up late one night and saw the NutriBullet commercial. I was skeptical at first and began researching the product online and looked for testimonials on Youtube. I like the fact that nothing edible is wasted like with my juicer and I could see less money going in the trash. I had a little money in the bank and, after talking it over with my wife, we decided to purchase it online and give it a try. I received my NutriBullet late September and immediately began NutriBlasting. I tried many different recipes, drinking my meals once a day. I noticed that it was a great meal replacement that satisfied my hunger, but I was still eating what I wanted for my other meals. Then the holidays came and the NutriBullet got tucked away for a while. When New Year's resolutions came around, I made the same one I had been making for years: lose weight and look good shirtless for the summer.

I started my journey on January 14, 2013. I decided early on that I was going to find a recipe I could drink for 3 meals a day Monday through Friday with a snack between each NutriBlast, while rewarding myself with healthy meals on the weekends. After a couple weeks of experimenting, I finally created a drink full of super foods that tasted great and that I could drink everyday. After that, the fat just melted off, my metabolism increased and I had energy I didn't know what to do with. So I finally put the gym membership to good use!

I started joining cycling classes and testing my endurance. I was achieving goal after goal and my whole attitude changed. People at work were really interested in what I was doing. I would conduct safety meetings and see people there that I hadn't seen in weeks and their jaws would just drop.

I realize now that nobody is perfect, but the body has the power to change if the mind can will it. My mind willed it all the way from 305 pounds to 205 pounds and I'm not finished yet. My new goal is to reach 175 pounds before I begin to pack on the muscle and get the strong chiseled look everybody deserves. I hope you can join me on my incredible journey because it's not over yet and I guarantee the NutriBullet will be with me every step of the way. The goals will keep on coming because I can do anything! I believe that now.

When the recipes call for lemons, limes and oranges are you supposed to peel the rind off or use the rinds????

The recipe is 1/4 cup of whole almonds Spinach packed all the way to the max line 1 banana peeled 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries Then water to the max line and blast. I recommend a teaspoon of cinnamon and a tablespoon of honey if you have a sweet tooth. Thank you all for the comments and best of luck on your journey. Roger L.

Definitely right afterwards to drink it for optimum nutrition. What is great about the NB is that your meal is processed quickly and does not raise the temperature that destroys the enzymes as can be with some juicers. I just started yesterday, and I am amazed at how good everything tastes and my cravings for the right nutrition have already kicked in. I have a lot of regular groceries, not all bad, but some less than optimal. Yesterday, I got the Nutribullet delivered in time for a late lunch. Did just a put together blast following the picture, felt satisfied for several hours. So, at dinnertime I had a frozen portion of a Spaghetti Lasagna that a friend made. First of all, the pasta was regular white pasta. I also had a snack in addition. I felt stuffed and lethargic. Today, I have had a NB breakfast, the better than coffee when I was wanting another cup of coffee, and I am looking forward to a NB lunch with a reasonable dinner. I am no newbie to the organic whole food lifestyle, having even been a raw foodist for a few months, but found it so time consuming to make my own crackers, etc. in the food dehydrator or way to expensive to buy them already made. I even had an expensive juicer that I only used less than a dozen times because it took some much time to assemble and disassemble for cleaning. I am semiretired, but never have enjoyed being in the kitchen all day. Now, the Nutribullet has turned nutrition into "fast food" again. I am looking forward to losing 36 pounds and becoming healthier. I want to thank David Wolfe for being a part of this and sharing his knowledge with us. Thank you Roger for sharing your experience.

It would be a real shame, if this "3-a-day recipe" is not going to be shared. I know it's not going to work for everyone, but it would be nice to know what it consisted of. :o)

I am so curious as to what ingredients made up your nutriblasts and whether you drank the same one each meal or changed them up. Congratulations on your journey to a healthier life!!

Do you mind sharing your recipe with us. Regards Hoss
It is best to drink it right after making it. It will taste better and will be higher in nutrients. I love the idea of having it at work! You could even set up a whole station for everyone to Blast together!

Hi, Nicole. I've seen posted in other forums (not NutriBullet) that you should typically try to drink your 'Blasts within 10-15 minutes of making them as the nutrients can lose their potency. I have no clue if that's true or not, and if anyone with nutritional experience could chime in, I'd love to know for sure, but I just deal with lugging it to work every day for now. It does get a lot of people talking at the office, though! Maybe NutriBullet should offer a referral program! :)

Congrats! Awesome job and I applaud you! How did you have your drinks 3 times a day? Did you take you nutribullet with you or make it in advance? I'm curious about taking it for my lunch, but do not want to take the bullet with me! Thanks, Nicole

Hello, Just read your post what an amazing story and congratulations. I was curious what recipes you used to help you shed the pounds. My mother in law has Fibromyalgia and has gained a lot of extra weight from it, that she has struggled to get it off along with the car accident she was in. The Fibro and her Lupus has also made it extremely hard to workout because she bruises easily and has low bone density. So anything would help right now, her e-mail is Thank you and good luck with you amazing journey
