Life After Chemo and Migraines

Life After Chemo and Migraines

Hi NutriBullet!
I just want to share my story with you.

I had gone to work one morning and left within 30 minutes of being there because of a migraine. I came home, curled up in a blanket, and turned the TV on low just to keep me distracted from the pain. That's when I heard the testimonials about the NutriBullet and several of them hit home for me.

In 2006, at the age of 22, I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. I thought it was an amazing experience, getting to go through something like that at such a young age; that would heighten my appreciation for life. The surgery was successful and I continued on with life. Then, in 2010, the tumor returned. I was devastated. The surgery went really well, but my neurologists wanted to put me on an experimental chemotherapy medication. I was desperate not to have to go through this again, so I agreed. It was a 2-year struggle while I was on the medication. I had moved cross-country and was living on my own and providing for myself financially. I had endless doctors appointments and was missing 1-2 days of work a week because of migraines (a side effect of the chemo). I was struggling.

On this day that I came home with a migraine, I listened to the NutriBullet commercial with wonder (I was already a David Wolfe fan, so that hooked me!) I ordered the NutriBullet and within about 2 weeks of using it, I had energy! Something that I hadn't had in almost 2 years! I had the energy to get back into yoga and was practicing almost 2 hours a day! And I was trail running??? I was never really a runner, but I had so much energy! To me, this was unbelievable and a true blessing. The migraines also dwindled from about 2-3 days a week, to 2-3 a month. Again, a true blessing! I was on the road to getting my life back!

I am now off chemo, but continue to use the NutriBullet every day. I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this life-changing product.

Best,
Rachel B.

First I would take a look at what you are already eating so that you know what may be triggering your migraines. There are some foods more than others that affect people. These include chocolate, citrus fruits, dairy, MSG, aged cheese, and sugar substitutes (aspartame). Now on to what you can include in your NutriBlast that may help...fresh ginger and foods high in magnesium (pumpkin seeds, spinach, swiss chard, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, cashews). These foods are all safe to consume while pregnant. In regards to pregnancy please consult with your Dr. to make sure that NutriBlasting or any dietary change is appropriate for you. There may be some superfood "boosts" or other foods that you may need to avoid depending on your personal health condition. In general, most NutriBlasts are filled with vitamins and minerals one requires during pregnancy. Any supplements should be cleared with your Dr. Some nutrients to pay attention to are: i. Folic acid - spinach, beans, asparagus, oranges ii. Vitamin D - fortified dairy alternatives, mushrooms, the sun iii. Calcium - beans and greens and fortified foods iv. Iron - fortified cereals, beans, spinach (with vitamin C), nuts/seeds v. Protein - nuts/seeds, beans, legumes, veggies and grains vi. Essential fatty acids - walnuts, avocado, nuts/seeds vii. B12 - important to make sure you get enough of if vegetarian/vegan
I just bought a NutriBullet for my daughter who suffers from debilitating migraines and cannot take anything because she is pregnant. I would love some recipes for her to help. Bless you, Nikki

Hi I was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. A devastating diagnosis but thankfully it was caught early - a low grade 2. What receipes do you use to help you? I would appreciate learning because they may well be helpful for me also. Cheers and hope you are well and still going strong. Caroline
