What Does Your Refrigerator Say About You?

What Does Your Refrigerator Say About You?

Food is a very personal thing. According to researchers at Cornell University, we make over 200 food-related decisions per day. What time will I eat? What am I hungry for? Do I want a large meal or a small snack? Am I in the mood for sweet or savory? Should I stop at the grocery store, a fast food joint, or just cook when I get home? Do I add avocado to my sandwich? (Answer: Absolutely!) Should I skip those doughnuts they brought in for our office meeting? (Answer: Yes, make a Blast instead!) The list goes on and on…

What fascinates me and what photographer and author Mark Menjivar captured in his upcoming book and photo series, “Refrigerators” and “You Are What You Eat,” is what people choose to eat when others aren’t looking. The inside of your refrigerator can speak volumes to the type of person you are and what types of issues you may be dealing with.

If our NutriBullet team came to your house today, what would your fridge say about you?

Because we often have food on the brain, the key to success is keeping your environment healthy enough to allow yourself to make easier decisions. Keep in mind this private space can hold the key to your health success!

Check out our Blast Bar fridge here at NutriBullet Headquarters! Curious what a dietitian eats? On this very day, my fridge at home contains the following:

  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Two cans of coconut water
  • A container of cooked quinoa (made with vegetable broth for flavor)
  • Cooked black beans
  • Baby spinach
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Premade hummus
  • Avocado
  • Zucchini
  • Cucumber
  • Fresh ginger
  • Nutritional yeast
  • A variety of nuts and seeds (walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, pecans, hemp, chia)
  • Raw almond butter
  • Apricot preserves
  • Sprouted vegan bread
  • A water filter
  • Lemons
  • Lemon juice
  • Tahini
  • Carrots
  • Hemp protein powder
  • Banana
  • And pumpkin butter for the holidays!

The takeaway:

Make food planning a priority!

Have nutritious foods on hand to make easy, health-thriving decisions.

Let NutriBullet help you meet your daily quota for fruits, veggies and other plant-based foods.

Think about your daily food choices and make decisions that will assist you in meeting your goals. (Figure out what they are; weight loss? Lower cholesterol?)

Next time you make a food decision, ask yourself, "What do I want my refrigerator to say about me?"
