Native to Mexico, this squash goes by many names: christophene, cho-cho, merliton, chouchoute, pear squash - but no matter what you call it, you've got to try it! Normally cooked like other squash, you can also Blast it raw, peel and all! High in vitamin C and low in sugars, the chayote is a great Blast ingredient for those looking to lose weight. It's high in fiber and, if eaten as a snack throughout the day, can help keep hunger at bay without drastically increasing your calorie intake.

Selection Process

Choose chayotes that are firm and smooth to the touch with bright green skin. Deep furrows and wrinkles on the fruit are normal, but avoid those with excessive wrinkles or loose skin. Chayotes can last up to 4 weeks in the refrigerator and up to 5 days once sliced or cut.
