Gotu Kola is currently used as an alternative option in the U.S. to treat varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (blood pools in the legs). It has no caffeine and is not a stimulant. It is native to India, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the South Pacific. This plant is a member of the parsley family with no taste or smell. It may help with wound healing due to chemicals called triterpenoids that strengthen skin, reduce age spots, boost antioxidants in wounds and increases blood supply to the area when used topically. It has also been shown to help reduce anxiety.
