It may look like an alien space ship, but don't let that frighten you away from the amazing health benefits of kohlrabi! Kohlrabi, high in vitamins and dietary fiber, is in the Brassica family, the same family as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale and brussels sprouts. It has a similar taste and texture as broccoli stems, but is slightly sweeter. You can use the bulb of the plant or the leafy greens, both are packed with nutrients - 1 serving alone provides 102% of the daily recommend amount of Vitamin C.

Selection Process

In season from November to March, look for a medium-sized, light green tuber that is heavy in weight. Avoid those with cracks, black spots, cuts or soft areas. You can store at room temperature for 2-3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
