Hi!

Does anyone have any experience with Maca Powder?

How often you use it?

Side Effects?

Thanks Much,

Janet

It is recommended to start off small (maybe 1/4 - 1/2 tsp and work your way up). Also, it is most effective when not used for a long period of consecutive time. I'd suggest 4 days use and 3 days off or use it a week or two and take a week off... Here's some benefits you'll see from maca: http://www.nutriliving.com/ingredients/maca-powder http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/maca You will probably feel the increase in energy. I know I did!
Krista- What if the MacaKrista- What if the Maca Powder is in the Nutriblast Superfood (4 in 1 packet)? Is that still okay to use daily??

Yes it is. There is a small percentage of maca in the Superboost. After you finish the package, I'd suggest taking a week or so off and then you can start again!
Why is it recommended to start slow with maca and then not use it day after day? This is the first I have heard of moderation with this ingredient. And I've been using a full teaspoonful when I use it, generally with cacao and blueberries with almond milk.
BobbieAnne great question. Maca has hormonal balancing properties. If you take it every day at the same time the body begins to get adapted to needing it for stimulation. You want the body to still do its thing with the assistance of the Maca. By taking a few days off every few weeks the body resets again and becomes less dependant of maca for balancing. It sort of like using a crutch to walk. If you use it all of the time the supporting muscles get weaker and weaker. The same happens with maca and sex hormones. I hope this helps, Healthy Wishes Wally Bishop C.N.C.

Some people may have a reaction with it when they first use it, as it is a powerful superfood. If you are using it and feeling great, don't worry! However, it is recommended to rotate your maca, as your body can become accustomed to it which makes it less potent in the body. By using it for a week or two and then rotating off for a week, you will continue to receive the same health benefits.

Thank you so much Mr. Bishop and Ms. Lefkowitz! Now, can one of you tell me why I never see any recipe that uses carrot tops (greens) I hate to keep throwing them away. It seems as though they should have some nutritional value. Are they toxic or what??
