I just began drinking green smoothies 2 weeks ago. After starting, I began waking up with a sore throat and mucus. Once I spit out the mucus and have a drink of water the sore throat usually goes away. I'm wondering if I should stop drinking green smoothies because of this. In my smoothies I put 3 leaves of organic swiss chard, 3 stalks of non-organic celery, non-organic pre-washed carrots, 1 clove of garlic, and 1 teaspoon of spirulina. What could be the cause of this?
