It's day three of the 2014 NutriLiving New Year Cleanse! How are you feeling so far? Cleanses are often thought of as extreme, but hopefully you feel perfectly satisfied and have found it to actually be fun!

You may begin experiencing symptoms of detoxification like headache, cravings, moodiness, or reduced energy at this time. Hang in there…they will pass and you will start to feel amazing! Think about cleaning your house – it gets messy before it starts to shine doesn’t it?

I’ve got a few tips to help you get over the hump. These suggestions should get those toxins flowing and help eliminate them so you can begin to nourish your body.

Drink plenty of water – Even though you are drinking NutriBlasts, your body requires water not only to stay hydrated, but also to help keep your bowels regular.  When you increase fiber consumption, you can “clog up” if you don’t add water to your routine. The whole idea is to move things along.

Sweat it out – Toxins are eliminated by three avenues; the digestive tract, the lungs, and the skin.  Performing light activities to work up a sweat, but not too strenuous, will not only remove toxins through your pores, but will help get lymph fluid moving along (see massages below). Other options to induce a good sweat include a dry or wet sauna or steam room.

Pamper yourself with an at-home spa day – Dry brushing and Epsom salt baths are great additions to a cleansing plan. Brush off dead skin cells and soak in the tub with heavy-metal binding salts to help speed along the process.

Massages – Massages do more than relax sore muscles. They stimulate lymph flow. The lymphatic system helps remove debris and waste that the body no longer needs. By circulating blood and lymph your body will “recover” from detox symptoms more rapidly. If possible, opt for a manual lymphatic drainage or a deep tissue massage; they both work wonders!

Have a headache? -  Try some green tea to help curb caffeine withdrawals. Whatever you do, don’t give into the coffee habit. Crave sweets? Give it time to subside. Resist the temptation to toss in honey, agave, or other sweeteners. If you must, add in a bit of stevia, more banana, a date, some berries or a slice of apple for a natural sugar boost.

Just Breathe! – Yoga and breathing exercises (known as pranayama) help release built-up toxins by way of the lungs. Yoga is a wonderful cleansing component as it connects movement with your breath. This takes care of the sweat component, too!

If this cleanse is completely different from your typical meal plan, then these few days have probably been a big eye opener. Embrace the change! We're here if you need us!

Hang in there; you will start to feel more energy than you're used to. Laugh more, smile bigger, and experience the power of nutritious food. We want to know how it's going!  Let us know below. Remember, each day, we randomly choose a comment contributor to gift a new Dessert Bullet :)

What are your goals you hope to accomplish by Day 5... Reduce sugar cravings, get off of caffeine, lose weight, jumpstart a healthy diet, and/or find like-minded friends? Keep us posted!

This morning's "Hunger Attack" blast was appropriately named! I was so hungry that I would have downed the Tomato Toddie with no complaints. Most of the blasts have been very palatable, but some have a very thick consistency that make it challenging to drink. I've been using my Nutri Bullet for over a year and sometimes fall into a comfort zone of having the same blasts day after day. This program is great to introduce new recipes and I like the carmaraderie of sharing the experience with others. Looking forward to trying the Kale-Cabbage Slaw later today.
My cleanse started after being almost totally off fruits and veggies for several months. I gained a ton of weight and the holidays were not enjoyable. This cleanse was a total 360 from what my body was use to. The first 2 days were a battle and then downhill after that. I am so glad I started and I am hoping when the cleanse is over to keep a couple blasts in my diet including at least one meal replacement blast. I also plan on eating 100 percent more fruits and vegetables after the cleanse. Will the junk food cravings magically go away? I am still craving junk food like crazy and I am not sure how to get those to subside. I'm also excited to start more strenuous exercise after the cleanse. The cleanse end is in sight and that is very fulfilling!!

Awesome job!! Sweet cravings are little devils aren't they? Try some of these tips here: http://www.nutriliving.com/blog/seven-steps-sugar-free-lifestyle-extracting-your-sweet-tooth Thanks for sharing your experience and keep with it - habits usually take at least 21 days to stick...I'll provide some tips on how to transition out of the cleanse and into a healthy daily eating plan tomorrow so stay tuned!
HUMP DAY!!!!! Day three and I am feeling wonderful!!!! I am so looking forward to Day 4 because one of the Blasts incorporates MY FAVORITE....Cacao!!!!! I am enjoying my Blasts!!!!! How we doing Blasters????
Also I wanted to share that I have found a great way to drink water with the ingredients most of have in our refrigerator and cupboard: Apple Cinnamon water. I put mine in 32oz. mason jars, 1/2 an apple and a stick of cinnamon. let sit for a few hours (like 2 hours) and Drink and Enjoy!!!!
Day #3 and doing good. Although last night we did go out to eat but I had a spinach salad with grilled shrimp and I brought my own olive oil & vinegar dressing... this is definitely not what I would have ordered. I did Planet Fitness Total Body enhancement and 2 miles on treadmill and 1 mile on the life cycle. Worked up a good sweat and feel awesome today. Drinking the berry lemon detox blast now...pretty good! How do we find out who the winners are of the dessert bullet?
I love being able to come here and read about everyone's experience with the cleanse. It's extremely helpful to me. I just bought the NutriBullet 2 weeks ago, so this cleanse was the perfect time to get acclimated to blasting. I feel great and I look forward to continue to eat healthy post-cleanse. We are half-way there! YAY!!! :)
Have to admit that I almost strayed away from the cleanse due to a busy work schedule but I've enjoyed most of the blasts so far so it was easy to convince myself to keep going. Drinking the veggies with the fruit is a big + as I always wanted to get into eating raw veggies but disliked the taste of most of them. Now I can get them in and I actually like the taste! 1/2 way there!!! Smooth sailing from here!
Day 3 is going awesome!! I have lost 5lbs and am feeling great. This has been a great kick start to my new year new me. I have to say so far this mornings shake has been my favorite. I like that I am trying veggies that I never would have tried had it not been for this. :)

Great news! Keep it up. We send a direct private message to the Dessert Bullet winners! Each one is chosen the following day (from the previous day) so that everyone has time to submit a response. We've had two winners so far - the first one was announced here: http://www.nutriliving.com/forums/topics/day-1-blast-monday-jan-6th (see about 4-5 posts down)... We'll announce the winner from Day 2 shortly in the Day 2 thread! Good luck :)
Day 3 and I'm eating the kale/quinoa/sweet potato recipe. It's awesome. And my husband liked it too! (although he was concerned about the serving size). Have also made the tomato soup and enjoyed that as well. Great recipes!! Loving the numbers on the scale as well. This was a great idea! So glad my husband bought me the nutria bullet for Christmas.
I agree about the Hunger Attack - it was the first time I woke up so hungry!!
Thank you for all these tips and advice! I've been having a hot bath with Epsom salts every day so far, but I will add the lymphatic massage too! My headache is better today, but still lingering a bit. I had my breakfast and mid morning blast so far, and may I say they were delicious!! I'm so happy I'm doing this cleanse, because it's giving me so many great ideas for blasts to continue later on! Wohoo, we are halfway there! :)
I am still having headaches and tiredness. I went to the gym last night, after that I felt great! My mom and I went out to lunch, I had plain grilled chicken with lettuce and lemon, that was before I saw the comment that restaurant chicken contains more sodium.. yikes! Tonight I am also going to my friends house, so I will be having a home cooked meal there! yay! I lost 1.5 pounds this morning.. hopefully tomorrow I will feel better. Last night I drank sleep tea, and I slept so much better! I'm gonna drink tea tonight and watch a movie with my doggy while my fiancé works! Growing up I've always have issue with drinking enough water.. All my doctors gave me lecture to drink more water.. I think I drank more water than before! I'll try my best to drink more water. I was unable to finish my first smoothie this morning, I did not like it :( I will drink another one before I head out and the last smoothie for today when I get home.
HOLIDAY DETOX BLAST.... SO FREAKING GOOD! I WILL MAKE THIS ONE AGAIN!
Just one other thought, has anyone else noticed any tooth sensitivity during the cleanse? I have had very sensitive teeth on my right side all week, BUT it is sort of coinciding with a switch in toothpaste (promptly switched back to my usual one once I started feeling the pain). But I was just curious if that might have anything to do with what we are doing?
what is everyones favorite soup?
Had a headache since yesterday, but it's gone now. Feeling good! I liked the kale-cabbage slaw. Having the tomato soup tonight. I liked the numbers on the scale this morning!
Had the cabbage kale slaw with lentil. Fantastic!! Though the instructions were a little confusing. Ingredients list calls for 1 cup of cooked lentils but directions say 1/2 cup. I did the whole cup :). Yay! Something to chew!!! Also, what does the (persevering) in brackets mean?
I did Day 4 today instead of Day 3 because I didn't have any ginger. Omg! You guys are in for a treat! Birth smoothies were sooooo delicious. Though I don't think anything could top Day 2's "growing nutriblast"!
Question: my boyfriend has been getting a bad stomach ache each evening so he has declared tomorrow morning will be his last. I'm not sure what could be causing it. We eat all these foods on a regular basis, though usually whole. And we make nutri bullet smoothies for breakfast every morning with similar ingredients. So the only change is the lack of animal protein. (And our evening sweets). I'm wondering if the stomach ache is caused by not Havanas many bowler movements? My theory is he's not as regular because of the absence of animal protein and sugar...
The only hong I would say about the home cooked meals and the chicken is to remind everybody that this isn't a diet. It's a cleanse. It's intended to eliminate the toxic build up in our livers, gall bladders and intestines caused by all the foods we're supposed to be eliminating for five days. This isn't a diet, thigh most of us are likely shedding a few pounds...

The butternut squash/sage soup is amazing and will be part of my regular week for now on!
Oops...darn spell check! I meant "thing!
The squash soup was my favourite too. The tomato soup tasted a little bit too much like just eating canned tomatoes. Though with these chilly days and nights we've been having any soup has been welcome!
Day 3 complete and I thought today's blasts were the best yet! I drank more water and still haven't quite finished smoothie 3 but I'm feeling good and looking forward to another day! I work in an office so I have been making blast 2 and 3 at night and freezing them. I make blast 1 fresh in the morning and take all 3 with me. I open blast 2 as soon as I get to work to allow it to thaw while enjoy blast 1, then open blast 3 to thaw as I enjoy blast 2. It's been working out so far!
Another day ... another success. I really enjoyed the Blasts today. In particular I liked the Berry Lemon Detox. I did use more water than almond milk but that's due to personal preference. Feeling a little more hungry today than the previous days but nothing I couldn't handle. Still home sick today. Tomorrow I will hopefully be going back to work and will have to prepare all my blasts in the morning. Everything is ready to go! Bring on Day Four!
I did not "go" on Day 3... how often am I supposed to "go"?

This comes up quite a bit and it usually happens due to a sudden increase in fiber. A few suggestions that have helped others are: 1) Drinking plenty of water. Maybe trying some herbal peppermint tea, Tulsi tea, green tea, or even more ginger tea can provide laxative-like properties. 2) Be sure to include some type of light physical activity - the blood flow and movement stimulates GI motility. 3) Add in some additional ground flax seeds or psyllium husk (this may or may not be a good option as it can either help push things through or potentially clog you up more). 4) Pure prune juice! 8oz 1x/day, then if that doesn't work go to 2-8oz cups one in the morning and one at night. Your body should adjust after some time. I'd suggest trying some of these and see how things go. Let me know what works for you!

What a great strategy! Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us :)

Very well said! Thanks :)

Too much protein and sugar actually clog you up usually so I don't think that's the cause of it - although everyone is different. This comes up quite a bit and it usually happens due to a sudden increase in fiber (even though you eat these foods normally, you are probably eating more high fiber foods in place of the animal protein). A few suggestions that have helped others are: 1) Drinking plenty of water - more than you think. The recipe makes two meal-size servings so you would add 1/2 cup to each servings (per serving)! This would use the full cup, but divided into two. Hope that makes more sense.

I'd guess it would be due to the toothpaste, however if you have sensitive teeth to begin with and are drinking the apple cider vinegar, then possibly use a straw to avoid any contact with your teeth - the acetic acid may be aggravating it.
Congratulations, Berngordon, you're our Day 3 winner! You just won a Dessert Bullet! :)
So excited!!!!
