Hello my name is Bob, and I have a Q for you, which is, I have heard that if you mix greens and fruits together it is not good for you, but yet after reading your book it sounds like it is ok to mix them together,I may add that I have been juicing for 15 years, so it has me concerned, so can you help me understand from a nutritional value if it is ok to do this. thany you bob

Bob welcome to the forum. I get this question often because people hear this or read it from different sources. In this post I am talking about real foods not refined and processed foods. If we look at this logically every food you eat has carbohydrates, fats and proteins plus vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytonutrients like antioxidants. Some higher in one or the other than other foods but it doesn't matter relative to this question. Each food also has enzymes and if not exposed to temperatures higher that 118 degrees they remain active and can do their job which is to breakdown the food. We you eat a food your body has several ways to identify what enzymes are needed to digest the food. The body then responds by releasing the right enzyme to get the job done. Remember each food has a mix of different types of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. So, the body is not selective it just responds to the demand. When we eat raw vegetables and fruits we also get the great benefit of the enzymes they contain which will also digest them. So, plant foods naturally come with a built in digestive support! That's awesome because it saves our pancreas from being over worked by having to supply these digestive enzymes. I have always mixed foods and had no problems. The only reason I would see to not mix foods is if you have found a sensitivity to mixing certain foods. We are all different. In short, I have not seen any scientific evidence that says digestive processes are enhanced or reduced by the presence of another food type. Nor have I had any clients with a problem of mixing foods. I hope this helps, Healthy Wishes wally Bishop C.N.C.
