I recently bought a bunch or herbal supplements/ingredients to add to my NutriBlasts/GreenMonsters including among other things organic aloe vera powder.  The first time i used it along with bee pollen, maca, and barley grass powder and the drink was so bitter i couldnt even swallow 1 sip!!!  after tasting a fingertip of all the supplements i narrowed the majority of the bitterness as to be coming from the aloe vera powder.  How much should I be using?  also does anyone have any idea besides adding stevia or another sweetner that will help with the taste???  I know I can buy empty capsules and fiill them and take the aloe as a supplement that way but I'd really like to add it to some of my drinks.  Any suggestions or idea are welcome....BTW I am used to a tad bit of bitterness because i do drink kale,Swiss chard,beet/mustard greens, daichoy, and other green on a regualr basis and usually just add bannana,avocado,and/or oj to turn down their bitterness slightly.

I have not used the powder before. I know that the natural aloe from the plant is not bitter tasting. I've found the whole leaf at a Farmer's Market and they also sell the food grade aloe at health food stores. I would use the amount the package recommends or slightly less. I know for me, I do not like the flavor of maca powder. Could that be the ingredient you are not liking? For things to cover up this bitterness, try cinnamon, vanilla almond milk, banana, lemon juice, or a slice of fresh ginger.
Thanks for the advice....nothing really seems to help much. I add most of the ingredients you listed regularly and none of them help. I caved and added a bit of stevia and was able to drink about half before the bitterness started seeping though and i quit. I decided i will just buy some empty capsules and take the aloe orally. I like to put my supplements driectly in my blasts for better absorbtion but there are a couple i take orally. I have found lots of supplements are cheaper to buy if you get them as a powder, and then you have the option of taking them orally (by adding them to empty capsules you buy from usually the same company),or mixing them in your smoothies,or in just a glass of water. Just be sure they are from a reputable company that guarantees their potency/strength!!! BTW did see some aloe leaves at the korean market i go to on occasion...do i just scrape out the flesh and use that? Also do you know if you can use cacatus leaves(the pulp in them)? I saw them there too.

Yes, cactus is similar to aloe...check out this video where David Wolfe uses fresh aloe vera from the leaf! http://nutribulletblog.com/the-best-day-ever-blast/
