Can't wait to get started!!!
So excited for the Super Cleanse. Love the fact it is all written up with a shopping list and all!
My husband and I started on the first but I love the recipes here! Really helps out alot
I'm in! Basic for me!
For the cleanse drinks do we use the big cup or small cup and how much of the soup.
For each day on the super cleanse do we have any estimates of the nutritional counts like calories, sodium, fibre, protein???
The recipes are for the large cup! For the soup, it states 2-4 servings to suit your hunger/calorie needs. Feel free to add more NutriBlasts or soup as needed.
The Super Cleanse is intense and only recommended if you have done cleanses (more so liquid cleanses) before. A rough estimate is around 900-1100 calories/day. This plan is not intended for a prolonged amount of time without supplementing additional calories, protein and fat or w/o the assistance of health professionals. We will discuss options to add additional NutriBlasts or add ingredients to the NutriBlasts already outlined for those who require more during the week. It has about 40g fiber and 30g protein on average each day. Some more some less... The Basic Cleanse is more of a healthy, sustainable diet that most people can handle. It averages about 1200-1400 calories/day with 45g fiber and 50g protein. Again the same options apply if one requires more intake during the week. We encourage each participant to get clearance from their Dr. before embarking on any dietary changes including a NutriBlast cleanse. Thank you for bringing up this important topic!
Thanks Krista that is good information to know. I have never done any cleanse before but I thought I could start the super and then if too hard switch or am I better to just do the basic. I am a senior and overweight just to let you know if you respond.
how long are the soups good for? can we make/freeze all the entire week's worth of soup?
Wow! I feel like I am part of a secret world. This is such great information. I am excited to get started.
We're glad you've decided to join us Jessica! Keep us posted on your progress...things you like, dislike, successes, and hardships. We're all here to cheer you on :)
Soups will keep fresh in the fridge for about 3 days...I'd suggest if you make larger portions to freeze some and defrost in the fridge a day or two before you will need them! Just reheat and serve.
Patti, for beginners I'd strongly suggest the Basic Plan, but it also depends on the types of foods you normally eat. If you are already incorporating large portions of veggies and eating clean and you are used to NutriBlasts, then the Super could be doable. I'd be concerned however that there may not be enough calories to keep your energy levels up. What you could do is use the Super as a baseline and then add in another NutriBlast from the Basic plan or switch out the recipes for whole foods instead of the soup. Somewhat tailoring it to fit your comfort level. Either way, after 7 days, you will feel refreshed and cleansed!
Hi All, Had the LiverHi All, Had the Liver Cleansing Nutriblast this morning.. Tasty but was very thick and hard to drink. I think was the beet. Did anyone have this problem? Thanks
good morning! starting the cleanse, I didn't have a few of the ingredients so I improvised and wanted to use what I had here, this recipe is delicious! Also, make sure you put enough water into your recipes to avoid the "sludge" factor... my first tall cup blast of the day: small handful kale small handful spinach mix (using up what I had) 1/4 lemon (no peel) 1/4 small orange ( no peel) chunk of peeled grapefruit 1/2 chunked apple 4 frozen strawberries 1/2 cup kefir (I had pomegranate flavor, yogurt works too) 1/4 cup of Ezekiel golden flax cereal (any cereal will do, Total raisin bran works great) enough water to cover your ingredients
Glad you liked it! It could be too much beet or chia seed. The chia seed can absorb 10x it's weight in water so the longer it sits, the more the NutriBlast thickens up. Did you drink it right away? Add enough water? If a NutriBlast is ever too thick...I'd suggest pouring a little into the small cup, adding more liquid and blasting again. Do the same with the amount in the small cup and you have yourself more deliciousness that you can enjoy later that day if hunger strikes :) Thank you for your feedback!
Thank you Krista! will do.
Mine was super thick too. I attributed to the chia to water ratio. The taste threw me off, so I didn't drink it as fast as I usually would have.
Love today's blast! I have used beets before but never tasted so yummy! Even my 11 year old liked the taste! This is one to mark as a Fav! Quick question....I am running a long run this week and I need a good boost to add to the blast...any suggestions?
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for the feedback! Typically I don't recommend doing a cleanse consecutively with intense training or long workouts since it is beneficial to let the body rest and also you are not getting many calories or protein. How long are you running? I'd suggest trying to add some quinoa, banana, oats, nut butters, and/or an organic protein powder (hemp/pea/brown rice/whey) to your NutriBlast. You may also wish to make another additional Blast post run...maybe a treat with some banana, dates, berries, raw cacao, almond butter and almond milk!
Is it OK to substitute: Flax Seeds for Chia Seeds? Spirulina powder for Chlorella powder? Sunflower Seeds for Pumpkin Seeds? Also, am not much of a soup person...can I substitute another liver friendly NutriBlast of some kind instead?
For today's second blast on the Super Cleanse plan, there is no liquid. Should I assume it should be water to the max line as always? :) Thanks!!
Good catch! Yes, water will always work...or I personally might add some almond milk to make it more of a creamy, filling treat. Feel free to add in some raw cacao powder too if you want to curb any sweet tooth w/o the added sugar! Mint chocolate, yes please :) Taste preferences vary so I'll be curious everyone's thoughts on this one.
Island girl, yes, feel free to make any similar substitution (nut for nut; seed for seed; etc.). Those all work well! And yes, if you do not like soup, then you may add another NutriBlast. Choose one from another day (or your favorite recipe) or pull in some more substantial Blasts from the Basic Cleanse if you need more calories/energy.
Thanks Krista! Unfortunately I had already made my blast before I saw your answer so I used water just to be safe, as I didn't think any would be used without any liquid. The avocado really thickens it up too. I like the idea of adding the almond milk and cacao though! Mint chocolate is always a good thing! :D I have to admit, this was really not a favourite of mine, but it was drinkable and I kept telling myself "It's good for me", "It's good for me". :)
Haha! Next time you can try that combo :) Sorry for the delayed response. I'm on the West Coast and forget you guys are probably already eating lunch.
First day was good for me-- liked everything I had and was a nice deviation from the normal routine of kale and apple. I had a really hard time getting today's down- the mojito one w/ avocado, kale, mint and chlorella powder.. I think it needed fruit or something?
Yeah, we are getting the same comments from a few! Cinnamon usually helps cover up the chlorella :) Maybe next time, we'll make it a bit more satisfying with almond milk, cinnamon and a dash of raw cacao. Way to hang in there!!
Any guidance on what's best to eat post-7 days and how to effectively come off the detox? I'm not hungry, I've liked mostly everything.. so would like to incorporate this as much as possible into my normal routine moving forward. My only concern is lack of protein to fuel exercise.
Stay tuned...I'll be posting some tips on how to transition to a healthy diet post-cleanse tomorrow! If you aren't familiar with Brendan Brazier, I'd suggest checking out his Thrive Diet - he is a vegan triathlete who has some good insight on fueling for intense physical activity. Here are some neat videos he recorded for MindBodyGreen: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/wc/brendan-brazier and also check out his book, Thrive. Let me know if you'd like some other resources to learn about plant-based diets and how to ensure you are meeting your nutritional requirements. Some good protein boosts to add to your NutriBlast are: nuts, seeds, nut butters, hemp seeds, chia seeds, organic silken tofu, beans, a plant-based protein powder (hemp/brown rice/pea) or possibly an organic whey powder.
Hi Krista, can you recommend a safe chewing gum while cleansing. Unless that's not recommended...
I'd actually say forgo the chewing gum. They either contain sugar or for the sugar-free, they have sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners that should be avoided on a cleanse. Sorry :( If you need a nice breath freshener, maybe some peppermint tea, chewing on some parsley or mint, or some natural mints from a health food store. I'm not familiar with brand names, but I know I've seen some at Whole Foods.
my last question - I am not able to locate dandelion greens but I do have dandelion leaf tea; would I reap any benefits from a cup or 2 of tea if I can't get the greens for the blasts?
Can we sub the greens? I am out of kale but have spinach?
Of course, no problem!
Awesome!:)
just learned of the cleanse i think i am going to try late!
Yay! Go for it. Let me know if you have any questions along the way. If you haven't already, read through these forum posts to help with some motivation and some answers to FAQs. Good luck :)
Question - Are we supposed to consume all of the Blast for each meal? Or just until we're full? Thanks!
Only drink it until you are full then put the cap on and store it in the fridge. When you are hungry again, bring it back out to sip on some more. Odds are you'll end up finishing them all within the day, they may just be spread out over longer periods of time. If you can't finish them that is fine too - when you're full, you're full and no need to stuff yourself! If you are active, note that this will reduce the calories you consume so I'd be careful about exerting yourself too much and not having enough energy to do that. During a cleanse I recommend light activity like walking, yoga, stretching, or a calm bike ride.
Thanks for the info!
**VERY MOTIVATED** I WILL START SUPER CLEANSE DAILY PLAN IN THE MORNING! IT IS A 7 DAY MENUS TO FOLLOW... WISH ME LUCK!!!
Hi All... I really wanted toHi All... I really wanted to try the Super Cleanse but have never done a cleanse before in my life. Would this be too intense for my system? I generally eat pretty well but there is definitely room for a lot of improvement and I basically wanted to kick off a new nutrition lifestyle with the Super Cleanse. Any advise would be appreciated.
Katy S. You sound a littleKaty S. You sound a little like me... I did this cleanse in January 2013 and did very well on it. I had to eliminate things I definitely cannot abide (cucumbers), but found a new respect for others (beets). I felt GREAT, lost seven pounds (still off) and am in the process of doing this again. Go for it....you will be so impressed with yourself!

Since you have never done a cleanse before I would suggest starting with three days of the cleanse and see how you feel. If you are feeling good and want to keep going then you can do the 7 days, but 3 days is a great place to start. Kicking off healthy changes with a cleanse is a great starting point and helps a lot of people get serious about their changes. Good luck!
Thanks, Sarah. That is great advice and that's what I will do. I'm super excited...!!!

Yay!!
I can not see where to print the grocery list...

Just above the plan, you'll read a paragraph. Click on the link from the blue "ingredients" and it will take you to the shopping list. http://www.nutriliving.com/forums/topics/2013-nutriliving-kickoff-cleanse-shopping-list Have fun!
Cattlegirl, You're right... Cattlegirl, You're right... I started the three day cleanse and now I am on day four so Im going to switch to the Basic (just because its a bit easier as far as ingredients go). I did make some slight moderations for myself as well but I do feel fantastic. Thanks for the support and advice.
Hi there... I was just wondering what a "serving" size would be for any of the soups? Any help would be appreciated.

The recipes are for one serving.
Is it OK if I prepare all 3 nutribullets of the day at once and store in mason jars for me to go back to ? or is the nutritional value lesser if they sit too long after being blended
melodycatelen wrote: Is it OK if I prepare all 3 nutribullets of the day at once and store in mason jars for me to go back to ? or is the nutritional value lesser if they sit too long after being blended
If you seal them up airtight they can last a little longer, but certain nutrients start to break down when they are exposed to light and oxygen. If you are drinking them all within that day, it should be fine!
hi there! I'd like to try outhi there! I'd like to try out the cleanse. I have a daughter with a peanut and tree nut allergy, so I don't like to place any ingredients which contain nuts into the NB, since she often drinks things my husband or I make. Some of the recipes in the cleanse call for almonds or almond milk and other nut products. Is there anything I can replay those products with?
I'm in, thanks!!

Just wanted to make sure you've got the right cleanse. We'll be doing this one here: http://www.nutriliving.com/forums/topics/clean-2014-cleanse-and-shopping-list For nut replacements, seeds (pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, etc.) will make good alternatives. For almond milk, you may use coconut milk or a hemp or rice milk instead....or coconut water (if coconut is ok).

This is the cleanse we did last year! Here's the 2014 one! See you there :) http://www.nutriliving.com/forums/topics/clean-2014-cleanse-and-shopping-list
How does this plan hit the digestive tract? Do I need to stay close to a bathroom?
coastiemom 72 wrote: How does this plan hit the digestive tract? Do I need to stay close to a bathroom?
It is different for each person. I will say it is a lot of fiber so be sure to drink plenty of water in addition to the Blasts to help keep you regular.
Hi, I was just wondering is it was save to do this cleanse ever couple weeks.
bmonreal44 wrote: Hi, I was just wondering is it was save to do this cleanse ever couple weeks.
I would suggest using it as a starting point to make healthy changes in your overall diet. It is not meant for a long term diet plan, but you can use some of your favorite recipes from the cleanse. I would not do a cleanse like this every couple of weeks, maybe every couple of months instead, but again the goal is to make healthy changes that you can use on a daily basis.

Thanks for your reply. I doThanks for your reply. I do not know what heart of palm is and have not seen argula we don't have it here in NZ. I also cannot find fennel at the moment what could i use instead? What else could I substitute them for? Thanks Cathi

Arugula is also known as rocket if you can find that...otherwise just use another leafy green like kale, chard, spinach, or collards. For fennel, try to use aloe vera juice if you have that or celery. It has a unique licorice-like flavor that really can't be found elsewhere. Anise seeds are a close flavor comparison. For hearts of palm, artichoke hearts or asparagus are good subs. Maybe they have canned hearts of palm without any added sugars or oils?
Ok, I'm a little late, but I start my Cleanse tomorrow, I've had my bullet for about a week now, and just made sure I have all or most of my ingredients; I work full-time at a grocery store, so shopping doesn't require much of an effort! is there anyone else who is just starting and looking to someone to get started with?
ok, if this first day doesn't kill me ill be ok. why does day one seem to have all the foods I hate, i.e. beets and bell peppers! First blast made me nauseous, and it didn't get much better from there, but if I get through this last Blast, I think I can make it!!!!

Hope you stuck with it! How are you doing today?
What would be the best substitute for peaches? Summer fruit is not available at the moment.
Sapphirez wrote: What would be the best substitute for peaches? Summer fruit is not available at the moment.
Feel free to use frozen peaches if you can find those...otherwise pitted cherries, nectarines, plums, apricots, and pluots are great options. Mango and watermelon might be similar in flavor, or last resort, adding in some berries instead.
