Does anyone know how I should prepare raw pumpkin seeds (fresh) to use in Blasts? The ones I purchase in the store that say raw pumpkin seeds are greenish brown colored. When you oven roast fresh ones they stay basically white or slightly tan. I love making fresh pumpkin puree for smoothies and to mix in oatmeal, and other stuff. I know pumpkin seeds are good to use too but I don't know why they aren't the same color!!! The ones from the fresh pumpkins are raw, roasted without oil like the store bought ones...but the color difference has me wondering.
You can Blast raw pumpkin seeds straight out of the pumpkin or you can roast them and then Blast them. The reason the ones in the store are green is because they have the outer white shell removed. When you make them at home you leave that shell on. If you were to peel off the shell of each pumpkin seed and them roast them, they would turn that green color you see in the supermarket. Great question!
