i would like to use oats in some recipes thinking they would be a might filling .. BUT .. do i use them raw (like just rolled oats) or do i need to cook the oats first (making oatmeal)?

I use raw steel cut oats . No need to cook them. they taste great. Try the apple pie recipe. Todd

I actually would suggest either cooking or pre-soaking steel cut oats as these are hard on the digestive system when consumed raw. For old-fashioned oats, since they have been steamed these are fine to consume without cooking (but can also be cooked if desired).
Was just about to ask a question regarding oats and was glad to find this post... great info!
