I have read all the comments on cleaning the blades, but can you

put the whole blade assembly in soapy water and wash it or can

you only wash the top part that has the blades

Put it all in--fully immersible. The motor is in the base, not in the blade assembly.

I clean the blades and cup at the same time. I rinse them both out, then add some dishwashing liquid and warm water to the cup. Don't fill past the max line. I put on the blade assembly and blend like I am making a Nutriblast. Then rinse out the soap and air dry. Simple.
I fill mine up with water to max line add a little dishwashing liquid, 1/4 cap of bleach, attach the blade assembly, twist and push. After, I detach and rinse for good measure. Life Hack!
