What size or how much?

Many of the recipes in the Nutribullet book and in the YouTube videos do not provide the quanity of the fruit for the blast.  For example in the slim down transformation blast, the ingredients are shown and specified if a cup or 1/2 cup of mangos and raspberries but you are only told to use a 1/2 an avocado .  Is this a Haas avocado which are small or a large avocado?

I am having questions about measurements. I pretty much go with measuring cup and measuring spoon measurements so rather than 1/2 the container for the kale/spinach I go with 2 cups then squish it down, then 1/2 cup each of several frozen fruits. When I use banana I usually just use a half and the same with avocado if Hass but FL avocado I may go with how it looks. Lots of time if the avocado has been cut and part of it has been stored there are brown areas to be cut off anyway. Occasionally I will over fill the large Nutribullet cup and it will ooze out but getting much better gauging how much. My biggest question is what is the measurement "handful of almonds"? Mostly just use 1 Tbs slivered everyday but some of the recipes call for "handful" has anyone measured a handful?

A handful can be 1 tbsp to a quarter of a cup. Since fruit and veggie size vary, the recipes may not always fit into your cup. As long as you are getting a blend of all ingredients, don't worry about following the recipe exactly as it is outline. You will still get all the healing benefits of having fresh fruits and veggies in your diet. Have fun with your Blasts and feel free to deviate from the recipe slightly. We encourage you to try new ingredients and find the best blend that works for you.
What do you mean by and i quote..."As long as you are getting a blend of all ingredients, don't worry about following the recipe exactly as it is outline."... this is not an honest answer as you also say and i quote..."Have fun with your Blasts and feel free to deviate from the recipe slightly."... What do you mean by "slightly"? Why do you even have recipes if people can't follow them? First of all the question has nothing to do with taste but how much and you vaguely answer it leaving us with no direction. Your answer reminds me of bad instructions on how to do on a DIY project. A tbsp to a quarter cup....Really! ....the difference between a tbsp and a quarter cup is a lot don't you think? I find it hard to believe that this question has to be asked for this issue should have been dealt with rather than just pushed aside. Lazy? maybe or just don't really care about those who put their trust in you. Quit being lazy and address this short coming so people don't have to ask this question. Don't take it personal or nothing will ever be accomplish by taking it personal just find a way to make your recipes usable so people won't give up. It's hard enough to get where you want to go without putting road blocks to your destination.
My wife and I started using nutribullet the day after christmas and after reading the book we had some of the same concerns.. Some recepies call for "Half" of this or "half of that". We felt the same way at first, but then we just said the hell with it and make them how we want, incorporating all of the ingredients. I dont think its a issue of being lazy, I think you need to look at the big picture... Think about it, there are a ton of recepies on this website, and in the books that came with the machine. Do you know which machine I have? Or what cup size im using? Probably not, just as I dont know yours. Hell I still dont know which cup size im "supposed" to be using for my morning detox blast, but ive pretty much settled on using the large one. Am I "wrong"? Maybe but it leaves me feeling full, and Ive already lost weight. How could I not? Any amount of the ingredients have to be better then stopping at McDonalds or a bagel joint for breakfast! My wife on the other hand uses the small cup as it fills her just fine. See the "problem"? Its the same recepie with two different cup sizes, and you obviously cant fit it all (a whole apple, a whole pear, a whole bannana, 2 handfulls of spinach, and pineapple) in a small cup. Hell the Rx model is more like a traditional blender in size..and people have that too! When we went to the fruit market to buy ingredients I could have bought a bag of apples, which had relativly small ones in it (that may have been the smarter move in hind sight) or the individual by the pound ones, which I did, and they are bigger. You guys are thinking about it way to much. In the book and on this site the rule of thumb states 50% veg 50% fruit. I start with my two fist fulls of spinach and thats about half the cup when squished down, from there i add the remaining ingredients..I get them all, and it gives you the ability to tweak the taste to your liking. That to me is key, because your going to want to drink something every day that tastes good, not something that you dislike. Think of it like cooking(NOT baking, lol). Do you follow recepies you find to a T or do you season and flavor to taste? Someone out there made that recepie your following after experimenting and finding it TO THEIR LIKING. Does not mean you have to love it just the way its written, it can be used as a good baseline though! As far as being lazy and unusable recepies...are you serious? Thousands of people have used the recepies before you and I even joined this site. Loonz, to me its you being lazy, since you want someone to hand deliver a exact recepie for you without knowing your cup size, your produce size, etc. Maybe they can premake them in cups and ship them to your door? Like a nutrasystem setup? lol Seriously, your being your own personal road block. "Dont take it personal".

REPLY: 1/8 cup for nuts and seeds.
To JSladky. I try to follow the recipe if i can and then adjust it to my taste. As far as everything else you said maybe you are right maybe I'm just plain wrong but it's who i am. Not everyone can be as flexible as you i need to have a place to start not some general guide lines.
JSladky - Just an FYI, I loved reading your post. It does mention many times in the booklet to try different things and settle on what you like. Just 50% veggies and 50% fruit and coconut water to "a FRACTION above the line" is what I do. Start it and do whatever dishes are in my sink and by then it's done.
