What recipes can help with UTIs caused by urinary retention?

I am in my 70's and have a reoccurring UTI for over 2 years caused by urinary retention.

I've been to 6 different urologists over the past 2 years an not one has been helpful to me. They have helped themselves to Medicare paid for multiple patient visits. What concoctions are available that would possibly help? I am hoping this Nutribullet system can be helpful. Thank you.

Al welcome to the Nutriliving forums. Congratulations on your new wellness journey!

I am guessing you have BPH that is causing the retention. Obviously this is a medical condition and should be discussed with your doctors. However there are a some things you can do that may help.

The following may help shrink the prostate which may improve yoru symptoms.

- Saw Palmetto
- Nettle
- Bromelain (enzyme for pineapple high concentrations in the core) Is highly anti-inflammatory and may shrink the inflammation
- Cranberry juice (must be 100% pure, is very bitter. It helps eliminate any possible infection, I have used it in my family successfully for UTI's many times)
- rye pollen (in studies has been successful at shrinking the prostate) Grass pollen (Secale cereale) -- Two studies that compared a standardized extract of rye grass pollen to placebo found that the grass pollen improved BPH symptoms, including reducing frequency of nighttime urination and the amount of urine left in the bladder. One study also indicated that grass pollen decreased the size of the prostate as measured by ultrasound. The brand of rye grass pollen most often used in studies is Cernilton. People who have allergies to grass pollens should not take grass pollen supplements

This is not medical advise and you should consult with yoru doctor before using any of these herbs, foods or supplements.

I hope this helps,
