any recipes that are high in Vitimin D and calcium?

My new dr orders are to increase my daily intake to: 1000-1500 IU Vitamin D and 1200-1500 mg of Calcium daily. I'd love to get the majority of that covered through a morning smoothie. Is that possible?

Dietitian's Answer

Hi there!
While it will likely be difficult to get your recommended intakes of both calcium AND vitamin D in your morning smoothie, here are a few recipes that are excellent sources of calcium:
Raspberry Mint Smoothie: https://www.nutriliving.com/recipes/raspberry-mint-blast
Tumeric Colada: https://www.nutriliving.com/recipes/turmeric-colada
Strawberries n' Cream: https://www.nutriliving.com/recipes/strawberries-n-cream

Some calcium-rich food sources include dairy products (yogurt, cheese, kefir, etc.) as well as calcium-fortified plant-based milks and orange juice, leafy greens, broccoli, butternut squash, beans, almonds, and oranges. Salmon, and other fatty fish, egg yolks, cheese, and fortified products, such as orange juice, plant-based milk, and cereals contain vitamin D. I encourage you to read this article, "Are You Getting Enough Vitamin D?" https://www.nutriliving.com/blog/are-you-getting-enough-vitamin-d
