Which recipes are high in iron and taste great?

My 3 year old has an iron deficiency and is a super picky eater. Can you recommend some recipes that are iron packed but still appeal to a child's sweet tooth? Thanks we are super excited to get started.

Dietitian's Answer

Combining foods rich in iron like pumpkin seeds, spinach, breakfast cereals enriched with iron, tofu, cooked beans, wheat germ, broccoli and apricots with foods high in vitamin C like grapefruits, kiwi, oranges, strawberries, lemons, papaya and brussels sprouts, can actually increase absorption of iron in the body. Please discuss with the Pediatrician whether or not a dietary iron supplement is necessary. Maybe try a spinach, strawberry, pumpkin seeds, organic silken tofu, and some coconut water for more sweetness!
