What can you suggest for someone with kidney disease?

I have kidney disease.  I notice the majority of the veggies and fruits are on my food lists of ones to avoid, including nuts and seeds.  Any suggestions for me?

Dietitian's Answer

Specific dietary recommendations are made according to stage of kidney disease and type of dialysis (if applicable). There are Dietitians who specialize in this area, as it is a very complex disease when it comes to nutrition. In general those with kidney issues are told to limit fluids, potassium, phosphorus, and sodium. In addition, protein needs to be monitored and it is important to make sure you are getting enough calories. I would highly recommend speaking with an RD in your area that is specialized in nutritional therapy for kidney disease. Being that many of the foods one puts into a NutriBlast contain potassium, phosphorus and liquid, I would hold off for the time being until you can sit down with someone who can help plan an appropriate diet for your specific stage. There are just too many unknowns that prevent me from providing an exact answer so I want to err on the side of caution. Thanks for that but you provided a generic answer. Obviously you did not read my question and the information is not at all helpful for somebody living in my part of the world.
