Specific dietary recommendations are made according to stage of kidney disease and type of dialysis. There are Dietitians who specialize in this area, as it is a very complex disease when it comes to nutrition. In general those with kidney issues are told to limit fluids, potassium, phosphorus, and sodium. In addition, protein needs to be monitored and it is important to make sure you are getting enough calories. Your dialysis nurse should have given some guidelines and I would highly recommend speaking with an RD in your area that is specialized in nutritional therapy for kidney disease. Being that many of the foods one puts into a NutriBlast contain potassium, phosphorus and liquid, I would hold off for the time being until you can sit down with someone who can help plan an appropriate diet for your specific needs. There are just too many unknowns that prevent me from providing an exact answer so I want to err on the side of caution. Best of luck! any recepies that are consider low potassium in your data base of recepies?
It is hard to say if we have any specific low potassium Blasts because we do not run a nutrition analysis on all recipes that are posted. Here are recipes that contain low potassium fruits: http://www.nutriliving.com/recipes/apple-cilantro-basil-blast, http://www.nutriliving.com/recipes/perfect-pear - leave out the banana.
