Can coconut milk contribute to high blood sugar?

Is coconut milk like corn syrup.  It says unsweetened, but my blood sugar this morning was very high at about 190 and I had coconut milk last night?  Could that have done it?  Maybe I had too much fruit,  a couple of slices of frozen peaches and a little frozen package (that I made with glad wrap after taking the pits out of the cherries). I like to get as much fiber into my diet as I can and I have a half a cup of oatmeal in the morning and 2 tablespoons of wheat germ a day.  I had 3 blasts yesterday.  Maybe I should go to two.

Candygirl, coconut milk is the same thickness as milk. It should not be thick like a syrup. Coconut milk is available in a carton just like almond milk. Make sure it says unsweetened. If your glucose reading was 190 and taken fasting (no food or drink after going to bed and before taking blood sugar reading) you are diabetic and need to see your doctor. What you had eaten or drank several hours before would not cause this high of a reading several hours later. Make sure your blast have more vegetables than fruits. Exercise is also very important in the management of blood sugar and diabetes. It can drastically improve insulin resistance. Controlling blood sugar is all about dietary balance and limiting high glycemic foods. You want foods rich in fiber if they have higher sugar values. Buy unsweetened cocunut milk, then you shouldn't have any problems.
I have had diabetes since 1986. I never ate anything with sugar until they came out with a glucose system meter where you could take your sugar test in your arm. I got the nutri bullet and started with banana and oatmeal, yogurt and kefir and I waa doing good on a quarter of a banana. Lately I have been putting in spinach, it is easy to freeze and it pulls apart easily when frozen. Honestly, I am trying to find the right recipes for me. I have never had many problems from diabetes until lately when my kidneys started getting worse but the last I heard they are almost normal now. It had to do with being dehydrated and a too low blood pressure. I have had diverticulosis for a long time so I am trying to work with that too. Being that I am in my middle 70's. My skin is so thin now that I have to take my test in my upper arm that is 20 points higher than in the finger, I think. Thank you for your concern and I will try to use coconut milk again, it tastes good. I will read that article link you sent.
I do not like to count carbs and sugar and stuff. I am more of the old fashioned type. I like to eat what works. I have so many things I have to do, like keeping up on my computer skills and doing my computer projects and keeping the house clean is almost more than I can do. If it calls for a teaspoon of vanilla I will pour a little vanilla in. That is how I cook.I read that article Wally Bishop and it would be very hard for me to count sugars and carbs and all that.
I've never used coconut milk, but I have used soy and almond milk. I noticed regular almond milk has 7 grams of sugar per serving, so now I make sure I buy the unsweetened almond milk. It's bland on its own, but works well when blended with fruits.
