What should I keep in mind when creating my own NutriBlast?

I would love to know the answer to this question... What is the best way to think about creating a NutriBlast? If I want to come up with my own recipes, what should I keep in mind and consider? I look forward to your reply!

Dietitian's Answer

I wish I had a simple answer for you Scott, but nothing is ever that easy :)

First question to ask yourself is, "What need are you looking to fill with your NutriBlast? Are you replacing a meal? Need a snack to hold you over til mealtime? Looking to boost your energy or supply some energy for a strenuous activity? Are you looking to gain nutrition while shedding some weight? Or do you just need some easily absorbed nutrients to help you get over a cold and help you stay well?

...the list goes on and on...NutriBlasts are great for so many reasons :)

Once you know the purpose of your Blast, then you can ask yourself what ingredients need to go into that Blast in order to obtain the results you desire. Don't worry, I don't expect you to know that answer already...

That is why we have this wonderful site :) Just type in a search term related to your question for some healing foods, articles or recipes that fit your needs. If you don't find what you are looking for, then head back to our forum and fellow NutriBlasters, myself, and other healthcare professionals are here to give you personal attention!

In addition to what I mentioned above, it is always important to add multiple colors and types of foods in order to obtain various nutrients... Carbs, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. The more variety you include, the wider the range of nutrients your body will have to benefit.

Thanks Krista! I really appreciate your thorough reply!

Scott, I just simply make each day a different color concentration, I always have nut and or seeds in my NB's. This is just fun for me. I also add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, cayenne, cocoa, etc...

I always have at least 2 NB's a day and each one may be a little different. the good thing is you can't really mess it up because the foods we use are all good for us!!

For instance on Monday I may focus one NB on all red foods ( I always have a green in each NB) so it may be strawberries, red bell peppers, beets, radish, red kale, blood oraanges, rhubarb, pumpkin seeds coconut water and a protein powder

On Tuesday it may be yellows/oranges. On Wednesday it may be blue/purples.

Sometimes we will make a NB ice cream without dairy by using a little almond milk and frozen fruit with stevia! or raw honey, yum!! Healthy Wishes, Wally Bishop C.N.C.
I like this strategy for switching up days, and thinking about new recipes! I appreciate you Wally!
