What kind of drink do you recommend for weight gain?
Hi....I am new to NutriBlastbut I also have a VitaMix that I have used to make Smoothies in the Past. I was told that the NutriBlast was MUCH better than the VitaMix so I purchased one & made myself a drink yesterday. I have been ill for 18 months w/o a Diagnosis. I mostly am unable to eat much and Digest Food. I am on TPN for the 3rd Time since January 2013. I get it through a PICC Line in my arm. I HATE living like this but all my tests are conflicting & I am going to Mayo Clinic in a few weeks. The Doctors suspect Gastroparesis because food just sits. What kind of drink do you recommend for weight gain? I eat a Gluten Free Diet for Fibromyalgia. I just started adding Dairy back into my Diet like Yogurt. Every time I get off of Liquid Nutrition my weight drops fast. I just can't consume enough Calories to maintain my weight. It's a vicious circle. I am tired of going round and round. Any suggestions? I am also Hyper Sensitive so I have a lot of trouble with supplements. I just started adding 5000 IU's of Vitamin D to my Drinks. My Vitamin D Level is very low. I also am back on Culterelle-the Kids Gluten Free/Dairy Free Powder. It's been Very Frustrating.

No worries mh88, you're suggestions are welcome and much appreciated! While we all like to choose whole foods first, there are times when supplements are warranted. We must make sure these are coming from pure, unadultured sources. Since we don't know of a diagnosis and I am unaware of your whole health history and test results, please use any of these suggestions as topics for discussion with your personal health care provider. Weight management is often a trial and error, however once you find the underlying cause of the weight loss it is often easier to stabilize. For now, I'd suggest adding in some more calorie dense ingredients into your Blast such as cold-pressed coconut oil, avocado, nuts and seeds, nut butters, protein powders, and possibly high calorie supplements such as a weight gainer. You may have brought back in yogurt for the protein, however dairy may be a trigger for increased inflammation and fibromyalgia symptoms in the body so I'd suggest maybe using a coconut milk yogurt for the fat and calories and then using other protein-rich sources for the protein component. You can also try a goat's milk yogurt which is more tolerable for some. Best of luck at the Mayo Clinic! I hope they can help you figure out what's going on and get you back to feeling well.
