Reenie69, I'd say your best bet is to focus on more veggies!! Also, include protein boosts like chia, hemp seeds, nuts, seeds, etc. to help slow the release of sugars into the blood.
Also, use low sugar liquids like water and unsweetened milk alternatives (dairy milk is naturally high in sugar) and avoid fruit juices...veggie juice is a good option as is chilled, brewed tea.
