Does blending fruits and vegetables destroy their nutritional value?

I was watching a Dr. this morning on TV. He said if you juice or blend your fruits and veggies, it totally destroys all the nutrients and is pretty much useless to drink. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what mechanism he's talking about when he says "destroys nutrients" and I'm curious to hear what his argument is. There is actually data to show that mechanical alterations (just like chewing, blending, etc.) can help you absorb nutrients.

The only thing I can think of is oxidation that might lower the nutrient content - however if you keep your smoothie or juice away from light, air, and heat then this helps minimize the nutrient degradation. Here's a more in depth explanation:

His name is David Agus. He has a book 'A short guide to a long life'. He says that the oxidation degrades immediately and you are just mainlining sugar. He said don't take vitamins, no cleansing or juicing. Thanks for your response.
I would understand the mainlining sugar for juicing due to the lack of fiber and protein, however in a smoothie you retain the fiber and add in protein-containing foods which slows the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. In addition, the antioxidants found in all the fruits and veggies would help prevent immediate oxidation. In addition, the Gerson Institute has shown some amazing results for cancer patients through juicing. However, I do appreciate this info and will definitely look into his view and do some further research on it. From testimonials that we receive all the time, we know that those who are NutriBlasting are having major health transformations and this is not something that would happen with a beverage void of nutrients.
Hi. I am also researching this and find, that it is the oxidation process that starts to occur after blending and mincing food beyond 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes. So shorter blending time is opposite when it instead releases all nutrients that are fresh out, for absorption. Within 30 to 45 seconds.
