Are vegetables really necessary?

I have been using the Nutri System for about two weeks and am finding that I am left with a very unpleasant taste in my nasal passages and rear throat.   The taste is of the vegetables used, i.e. Sprouts, spinach, broccoli and cabbage, etc.   The taste lingers for two to three days. What is the reason for using any type of vegetables with the blasts?   I eat a good amount of partially cooked vegies with most meals.   I find an enjoyable blast or smoothly is a mixture of different fresh and frozen fruits and berries, along with two tablespoons of ground flax seeds, topped off with a scoop of protein powder and water to the max line.  Very enjoyable but is it doing me as much good without adding the vegetables?   If not, which veggies would you suggest? I am age 73, am still working at an active job but have suffered from lung cancer four years ago followed by atrial fibrillation and highish B/P, and have now developed a very nasty and painful gout condition.   Everything seems to be being kept under control due to medication but my pharmacist has suggested not taking green leafy veggies, no grapefruits and no cranberries, due to the medications involved. I would dearly love to get off all medications hence the purchase of the NutriBullet.   The system seems to make a great deal of sense and I have great hopes for the help it may offer me for my condition in the near future.   Any suggestions or advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out and the NutriBullet can help you regain your health. With multiple medications and medical concerns, I would suggest finding a local dietitian in your area that can help you create a meal plan and find foods that will work best for you and your health.
