If using instant or rolled oats, you can toss them in your Blast dry. If using steel cut, Irish or oat groats then those must be cooked first.
I use uncooked steel cut oats in my smoothies all the time. Why is that a problem?
I don't think it's a problem. I think they don’t recommend steel cut oat for your smoothies because they don’t blend well to make an even texture all the time in the short time your Nutribullet is working. And a lot of people like smooth smoothies. Cooking just avoids soaking them or grinding them to a powder to blend easier. I prefer the rolled oats, but any oats will do if it works for you ;-)
