I have low throid will eating raw kale cause a problem?

Those with hypothyroid should be mindful of foods with goitrogens. More info can be found here:

As with any nutritional advice, it is best to discuss this with a personal RD or your Dr. so they can determine if it is appropriate for your specific needs.

The goitrogens in these leafy greens disrupt natural hormone production. Some doctors feel it is ok for patients with underactive thyroid on thyroid medications to consume these foods while others say to limit them. It may also depend on your iodine status.

Low goitrogen-containing foods include (celery, beetroot, beetroot leaves, romaine lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, lemon, oranges and melon, to name a few).
