Official Answer

Antioxidants are compounds that can prevent or delay some types of cell damage. They clear out free radicals in the body which can be damaging. The most common types are beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, selenium, vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E. These are primarily found in fruits and vegetables but they are also available in supplements. I always suggest increasing dietary sources of antioxidants vs. taking supplements.
