Is there anything else that will bring out the best in turmeric besides pepper?

Pepper is the only thing I know that has been studied well. Adding a healthy fat has some potential, but we don't know for sure.
You may also buy a curcumin extract. A good brand that I've used is Curamin or Curamed: http://www.europharmausa.com/products/curamin/
