Should I be worried about salicylates if I have eczema?

I read that most fruits and some vegetables have salicylates and amines which are bad for eczema. Is this true?

Dietitian's Answer

Salicylate-rich foods can cause a worsening of eczema symptoms IF you are prone to salicylate sensitivity or allergy. If these foods do not cause any outbreaks or reactions, then you should be fine. If you're concerned, try an elimination diet (cutting out all foods that contain salicylates) to see how your eczema responds, then slowly add some back to then see what happens.
