Signs and Symptoms
CHD, or coronary heart disease, is the narrowing of the blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to your heart. Over time, fatty streaks of cholesterol, or triglycerides, build up, forming plaques, and begin to interfere with the free flow of blood through these arteries. As this process worsens, chest pain, fatigue, irregular heartbeat, or heart attack may ensue.
Prevention is the best form of treatment and making lifestyle changes can make the biggest difference. Quitting smoking, following a healthy diet, and committing to physical activity daily can lower CHD risk factors and increase your lifespan overall.
